Markets, wine shops and the weekend haul
Three farmers’ markets, two wine shops with tastings, and where I pick up meat for Korean BBQ at home.

Montrose Farmers’ Market, Sundays
Open every Sunday until 1PM. California Tornado Potato (get there early), Beba’s for barbecue, we also love the roasted corn, pupusas, dumplings, and Hawaiian food vendors.
La Cañada Farmers’ Market, Saturdays
Nicholas Family Farms for fruits, and there’s usually always some food trucks out front.
South Pasadena Farmers’ Market, Thursdays
Our first time there blew my mind: buzzing with good energy, so much beautiful produce and so many vendors. We tried The Chicken Guys and Peruvian, and took a Kenchan ramen kit home.
Rosso Wine Shop, Glendale
Rosso Wine Shop first opened in 2006 and is a community gem with weekly tastings and an inviting front patio.
Pasadena Wine Shop, Pasadena
Owner and head sommelier Nicole is so knowledgeable that having her pick a bottle feels like chatting with a girlfriend with impeccable taste. Extensive selection at all price points, the largest Riesling selection I’ve seen, designated parking on Green St., and monthly themed tastings.
Altadena Beverage, Altadena
Owners Adam and Kate (also of Good Luck Wine Shop) know everything about wine and stock what they personally love, including items from local bakers, chefs and farmers.
Meat for the grill
Angus Meat Market in La Crescenta for Korean BBQ at home, with crisp greens for ssam and all the banchan. Gelsinger’s and Schreiner’s for rotisserie chicken, deli meats, and sandwiches.
Burden of Proof, South Pasadena
A non-alcoholic shop with the largest selection of NA drinks in the Los Angeles area. Such a cute and cheery shop with other wares and groceries, too.
