MAEVE of the Foothills, the moms’ group I lean on

What MAEVE is, who it’s for, and why I’m a member of the Foothills chapter.

When I became a mom, I have to tell you, it was lonely. Parenting, whether you’re working or at home with your kids, is tough and you need support. I happened to come across this group of moms and kids at a park, and the rest is history.

What MAEVE is

MAEVE is a national non-profit that supports “all those who mother.” I’m a member of the MAEVE of the Foothills chapter, which covers North Glendale, La Crescenta and La Cañada Flintridge, with members from surrounding areas like Tujunga, Sunland and Altadena.

What we do

Events for moms and kids, age-based playgroups, moms’ nights out and family events. We also do service projects to benefit families in our community. I feel so fortunate to have made lifelong friends from this group.

Giving back

In 2025 our chapter ran a silent auction with local sponsors, many of them local moms, to benefit the Altadena Seed Library and its mission of restoring native biodiversity after the Eaton Fire. After the fires we also pointed people to Neighbors of Altadena, a volunteer group offering walk-in support on Saturdays in La Cañada Flintridge, with childcare provided.

Not in the Foothills?

MAEVE also has chapters in Burbank, Mt. Washington/Glassell Park, Los Feliz and Orange County, and they’re growing. Find your group at wearemaeve.org.
